We are the Champions

Sully Sports Ladies Bowls Club took the prestigious Evening League title on Monday 21st August on a bright sunny evening having played many of their games in rainy and windy conditions.

It was an exciting finish for the league with Sully winning their section by just one point over Llantrisant 2 to progress to the section semi finals. They then had a convincing win over Gilfach Bargoed for a place in the final against Llantrisant 1 who had not lost a game all season. The final was a nail biting finish with one rink finishing 5 shots up and the other rink having two ends to play. Sully Ladies were able to hold off the opposition to win by one shot.

Captain Mary Dare was delighted with the win. It was a culmination of hard work and dedication by the ladies members as last year we were in danger of folding but we presented a united front working together and looking after each other. Four of the Sully Ladies were also representing the club at County Competition Semi-Finals but were unsuccessful in their bid to reach the finals losing their games on the last couple of ends by narrow margins.

Sully Ladies are always looking for new members and if anyone would like to come over and have a go please contact Yvonne Lloyd on 02920 530795, we would love to welcome you. Bowls is great fun, keeps you fit and you make friends.

To the Management Committee Sully Sports & Social Club.

I feel that I must publicly THANK Mr Byron Colston, for clearing all the rubble from the rear of the Bowls Pavilion free of all charge. The rubble that was there, constituted a serious fire risk to the pavilion. The job was carried out within three days of me asking him.

Thanks very very much Byron.

Keith Romans and the Bowls Members.
